15-K gear for counters VDO speedometer instrument cluster disc gear

Description:
This 2-component gear is a common source of failure on VDO odometers on a wide variety of vehicles. The affected VDO drives are installed worldwide in many models of many European, Japanese, American or Australian brands.

The drive consists of 2 gears:
1. a standard gear in the variants. E15, E20, E25 (15,20 or 25 teeth)
2. a disc gear which varies teeth number AND disc size.

The disc gear comes in the following 8 variations:

12-K = 12 teeth on Kliner disc (disc diameter ~15,5mm)
15-K = 15 teeth on Kliner disc (disc diameter ~15,5mm)
15-M = 15 teeth on Mittler pulley (pulley diameter ~17,8mm)
15-G = 15 teeth on Grougher pulley (pulley diameter ~21.8mm)
16-K = 16 teeth on Kliner disc (disc diameter ~15,5mm)
16-M = 16 teeth on Mittler pulley (pulley diameter ~17.8mm)
17-K = 17 teeth on Kliner disc (disc diameter ~15,5mm)
17-M = 17 teeth on Mittler pulley (pulley diameter ~17,8mm)

Before purchasing, we ask you to determine the correct variants for you by removing the instrument cluster and checking the gears.
Use the search function in the store and look for the gear designations (e.g. 12-K or E15).

To find out which gear you are purchasing with this offer, simply refer to the offer title
The photo shows front and back side if necessary, offer component is 1 gear.

Notes:
We have a variety of speedometer gears for VDO, Motometer and other speedometers and instruments in the program. Unfortunately, the exact combination (vehicle model to gear variant) cannot be determined for each model, but for the known and most common combinations we have separate offers in the store.
Buying a used speedometer may save the repair, but also carries the risk that the gear breaks in a timely manner. In particular, storage times and cold temperatures additionally damage the gears.
If you have disassembled the speedometer once, it is also recommended to replace the bulbs. These lose noticeable power over the years. They are available at any car dealership or accessory store.

Advantages:
Our gears are injection molded from high quality thermoplastic material: This allows very good dimensional stability and involute shape of the teeth, which are particularly gentle on the partner gear.

If you disassemble the speedometer in advance, please note that the shaft of the speedometer needle is very sensitive. Grasp the speedometer needle in the middle and turn it counterclockwise. Pull lightly while doing so. Friction is all that keeps the needle on the shaft.
