Description:
The fuel accumulator maintains the system pressure in the system after the engine has stopped (holding pressure). Due to the pressure that is still present, no gas bubbles can form in the line during a hot start because the fuel is under pressure and does not boil as quickly. In addition, the holding pressure during cold starts ensures that there is always enough fuel. The fuel storage ensures that the engine starts well.
Pressure fluctuations in the system caused by the fuel pump or similar are also compensated for.
A defect is noticeable through poor starting behavior and can be detected using a pressure gauge in the fuel line.
