Description:
The bump stops sit on the piston rod of the shock absorbers. The foam bumpers serve as protection against the shock absorber bottoming out when fully compressed. As a rule, the old foam is porous and torn so that it no longer fulfills its function. The bellows is the splash guard for the piston rod and its sensitive seal on the suspension strut. Shock absorbers almost always fail at this shaft seal and the more coarse dirt the piston rod pushes against the shaft seal, the faster both components wear out.
