Speedometer gear for VOLVO 440 460 480 VDO instrument cluster V20

Description:
If the odometer/daily odometer on your Volvo has failed, then this gear is the cause.
The reason was an assembly error by the manufacturer. The original gear was manufactured on a urethane base, but was greased with a petroleum-based lubricant at the factory. This lubricant has made the material porous over the years. It is therefore essential that you clean the lubricant from the components when replacing them.
The material of this gear offered is mixed with graphite additives and does not require any lubricant!
The adjacent disk gear also often fails because it has also come into contact with the wrong lubricant. To avoid double assembly work, we recommend replacing them in pairs with the corresponding disk gear. You can find offers for this in the store.
Note:
We do not recommend buying used speedometers, as the pinion will break sooner or later. In addition, you will retain the original mileage when repairing!

The so-called involute tooth geometry is retained, which is the only way to ensure low-friction sliding of the tooth flanks between the gear pairs.
The material we use is the thermoplastic Celron with graphite additives. These ensure low friction and wear-free operation.
If you disassemble the speedometer in advance, please note that the shaft of the speedometer needle is very sensitive. Grip the speedometer needle in the center and turn it counterclockwise. Pull gently. Friction is all that keeps the needle on the shaft.
