Released in 2011, the Porsche 991 ushered in the seventh generation of the legendary 991 and ran out of the factory until 2019. At the heart of the 991, the engine, Porsche left it at the characteristic six-cylinder boxer engine, which was turbocharged in all versions from 2015.
Engine and prices
The spectrum of engines ranged from the 3.0 liter engine with 370 hp in the Carrera to the 4.0 liter engine and 580 hp in the GT3 RS, always with six cylinders. With the facelift, the Carrera was even able to achieve a fuel consumption of 6.0 liters per 100 km, showing that Porsche had not only worked on driving performance and comfort, but also on everyday usability. In addition, the 991 could score with improved safety and, for example, the bi-xenon headlights were standard equipment.
There was a choice of all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive, manual transmission or a PDK dual-clutch transmission, as well as a Coupe, Cabriolet and a Targa. With the 991, Porsche was able to perform the balancing act between driving pleasure and everyday life better than ever before thanks to technological advances, especially in electronics and controls, yet it was still possible to save weight on the newest member of the 911 family and show that there was no need to compromise on driving pleasure.
