Porsche 993 spare parts

Technical data

The Porsche 993 is the successor of the Porsche 964 and the last model of the Porsche 911 with air-cooled engine. The Porsche 993 was available in the versions Targa, Carrera and Turbo. The models of the 993 produced from 1993-1998 range from 272 hp or 286 hp of the Carrera and Targa models to 408 hp for the Turbo model.

The Porsche 993 came with 20 mm wider rear tires, a more stable brake system and improved anti-lock brakes. Furthermore the engine was equipped with a maintenance-free valve control with hydrostatic valve control and also the central locking and immobilizer with alarm were standard. The 993 is considered the best and most mature 911 with air-cooled engine. Due to its low maintenance costs it is considered to be the most reliable and as the last 911 with air-cooled engine it enjoys a special position among enthusiasts.

Motor and prices

The reworked body of the 993 focused on the bumpers, which were integrated more closely into the body to make the design more elegant. Chief designer Harm Lagaay was strongly inspired by the shape of the original model. The rear end was emphasized by the sloped light band and the changed fenders. However, the rear of the car was warmed up so much by the exhaust tailpipes behind it that tire wear occurred earlier. Nevertheless, the design remained largely unchanged.

The interior of the 993 was only minimally changed. The arrangement of the round instruments with transmitted light technology, as well as seats and center console were taken over from the Porsche 964. The most noticeable change was the newly designed steering wheel, which looked more elegant despite the airbag. Also the door handles were adapted to the elegant design. In general a higher comfort became directly visible with this model.

With the 993 model, Porsche had reached the limit of the economically and ecologically sensible level of development. Since regulations on exhaust gas purification and noise levels could only be met with cost-intensive further developments, the concept of the Porsche 993 was abandoned and instead the Porsche 996 with water cooling was developed. The price development for the 993 is rising, which is why a purchase advice is currently recommended.
