Brake discs and brake pads are among the most important wear parts in motor vehicles. A failure of the braking system can have serious consequences. Therefore, brake discs and brake pads should be checked and replaced at regular intervals.
Similar to brake pads, worn brake discs are noticeable through a reduction in braking performance and a significantly longer braking distance. During the braking process, vibrations in the steering wheel or the vehicle swerving to the side can also occur.
When changing the brake disc, the brake pads should always be replaced. In addition, for brake systems with a warning contact, it should definitely be replaced as soon as it has been triggered.
Brake pad guide plates ensure defined positioning and noise isolation of the brake pads. The most common cause of errors in guide plates is contamination and corrosion. Therefore, the guide plates should be inspected every time the brake pads are changed. A damaged guide plate causes the brake pads to bind, which increases wear on the brake pads.
