The 957 Porsche Cayenne models were introduced with the 2008 model year and sold through the 2010 model year. The 957 is essentially a revised version of the 957 based on the same chassis with some mechanical and aesthetic changes. Porsche introduced the optional Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) system with the 957. PDCC was available as an option on 2008 to 2010 Cayenne models and features hydraulically controlled anti-roll bars that keep the car flat in corners on the road and more controlled off-road. The 957 models remained, but additional models were introduced. As a result, in addition to the Cayenne, Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo and Cayenne Turbo S models, the Cayenne lineup now included the Cayenne GTS and limited edition Cayenne S Transsyberia and GTS Porsche Design Edition 3, as well as a Cayenne Diesel.
Engine and prices
The 6-speed Tiptronic S was standard on the Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo, while the V6 versions had a 6-speed manual transmission. Power was sent to all four wheels via Porsche Traction Management (PTM) which could direct all power to the front or rear if needed. Since the Cayenne 957 is only a facelift of the 955 model, not much was changed in the engines compared to its predecessor. The Cayenne did receive upgraded powertrains. The Cayenne S's V-8 engine was increased to 4.8 liters and 385 horsepower, while the turbo increased to 500 horsepower. The base V-6 engine received a displacement increase to 3.6 liters, an increase of 43 hp. A new Cayenne GTS featured a 405-hp version of the 4.8-liter V8 and was available with a manual transmission. In 2009, Porsche introduced the 550-hp Cayenne Turbo S.
