Porsche 964 spare parts

Technical data

After 15 years of production of the Porsche 911, the Porsche 964 followed as the successor to the G model and was produced from 1989 to 1994. Since at the time not only the driving performance, but also the comfort played a major role among customers, Porsche developed the ultra-modern 964. The sales name Porsche 911 remained despite many innovations, as this was already considered the epitome of Porsche. The Porsche 964 was very successful and is still in high demand on the used car market.

Engine and prices

The Porsche 964, which was based on a great deal of technical know-how, was able to convince with many technical solutions that were not previously available in the 911. These included optional all-wheel drive, a new chassis based on light metals, and also power steering and an anti-lock braking system. The new 3.6-liter engine also received an ignition system with dual ignition and knock control, as well as a controlled three-way catalytic converter.

The Porsche 964 was the biggest revision to the body shape of the 911 since the G model. The newer body shape was better designed aerodynamically and, together with the full fairing, provided a drag coefficient of only 0.32, a milestone at the time. Particularly noteworthy was the automatically extending rear spoiler, which provided better aerodynamics and engine cooling at speeds of 80 km/h (50 mph). Due to the improvements in aerodynamics, it was possible to significantly improve not only consumption, but also the top speed.

Initially, the model was available only as a Carrera 4 with all-wheel drive, and later as a Carrera 2 with rear-wheel drive. Both versions were offered in coupe, cabriolet and targa versions.

The engine of the 964 continued to be an air-cooled six-cylinder boxer engine. Compared to the earlier 3.2-liter engine, fuel consumption was significantly reduced, due to modified engine management and ignition systems.

In the interior, the 964 differs from its predecessor only in detail. Noticeable is the new center console with the short gearshift, as well as the instruments illuminated from behind, where the symbols appear only when this information is necessary for the driver. The price trend for the 964 is upward, which is why it is currently recommended to buy.
