The viscous fan is crucial for reliable cooling of the engine. If the viscous coupling fails due to a defect, the cooler either runs permanently or does not start running even though the engine has exceeded the appropriate temperature.
This new viscous fan solves a major supply problem on the first series 928s. It fits 4.5 to 5.0L engines up to mid-1985.
