Description:
If the odometer/daily odometer on your Volvo 240 has failed, then these gears are the cause.
The reason was an assembly error by the manufacturer. The original gear wheel was manufactured on a urethane base, but was greased with a petroleum-based lubricant at the factory. This lubricant has made the material porous over the years. It is therefore essential that you clean the lubricant from the components when replacing them.
The material of this gear offered is mixed with graphite additives and does not require any lubricant!

The adjacent disk gear also often fails because it has also come into contact with the wrong lubricant.

In some cases, other numbers of teeth are installed in the models. We therefore recommend purchasing the gear only after dismantling the gear.

The so-called involute tooth geometry is retained, which is the only way to ensure low-friction sliding of the tooth flanks between the gear pairs.
The material we use is the thermoplastic Celron with graphite additives. These ensure low friction and wear-free operation.

If you disassemble the speedometer in advance, please note that the shaft of the speedometer needle is very sensitive. Grip the speedometer needle in the center and turn it counterclockwise. Pull gently. Friction is all that keeps the needle on the shaft.
