Description:
The strut mount forms the connection between the strut and the body and is therefore also called a strut bearing. Before the strut mount can be attached to the body, the springs must in most cases be pre-tensioned and mounted to the shock absorber with the strut mount.
A defective strut mount is noticeable by creaking or grinding noises.
Due to the considerable installation effort, it is advisable to always replace the strut mounts when replacing the shock absorbers or struts, or performing other work on the suspension.
The strut mount stop plates are often heavily rusted/corroded and should always be replaced as well.
