Technical data & history of the Porsche Panamera 970

The Porsche Panamera was presented at Auto Shanghai in 2009 and was Porsche's answer to the desire for a fully-fledged four-seater with the performance of a sports car. While the design was controversial, the driving dynamics were convincing.

Engine and Chassis Technology

  • Engines: The first models featured a 4.8-literV8 engine (naturally aspirated or turbocharged). The Panamera S and 4S started with 400 hp, while the Turbo produced 500 hp.
  • Hybrid: The Panamera S E-Hybrid version later introduced plug-in capability , which enabled all-electric driving at speeds up to 135 km/h. Innovations: The Panamera introduced technical solutions such as the optional dual-clutch transmission (PDK) and the advanced Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM).
