Description:
This radial oil seal is for sealing the wheel bearings on the Porsche rear axle. Wheel bearings are the central roller bearings on vehicles that guide the wheel via the wheel hub in the wheel carrier. In older vehicles, these are often pairs of bearings; newer models usually have only a double-row angular contact ball bearing. In the past, open roller bearings with separate oil seals were also used, as in the F-model or the 930. If a wheel bearing is defective, this is usually noticeable by a "thumping" noise when cornering. A firm wiggle of the wheel can also provide information about the condition of the wheel bearings.
