Brittle or torn rubber parts are often the reason for rough engine running. The engine often runs poorly, especially when idling, because it can draw in false air through aged and hardened rubber parts.
We therefore recommend replacing sleeves, intermediate flanges, hoses and intake manifolds at the first signs of aging. Rubber parts should always be replaced after 30 years as a precaution.
Replacing rubber parts is standard practice in full restorations.
