Description:
The valve cover serves as a maintenance access point for the engine and seals it to prevent engine oil leakage and the ingress of air, moisture, and contaminants. Depending on the engine, the cylinder head cover houses the valve train, spark plugs, injectors, and various intake ports.
A defect in the valve cover can be caused by either rust or corrosion, or by thermal distortion.
Oil loss is a common consequence.
When replacing the valve cover, it is always advisable to also replace the valve cover gasket.
