The fan increases the cooling capacity of the water cooler in particularly stressful situations and thus ensures that the engine temperature does not rise too much. A defect in the fan motor is noticeable through excessively high engine temperatures.

When replacing the fan, the corresponding thermal switch should always be checked and replaced if necessary.
