Description:
This gear wheel is a common weak point on mechanical speedometers, but replacing it is relatively simple. Odometer gears that no longer work can be repaired quickly and accurately.

Gear selection:
The standard gears M11 to M25 can be installed in the mechanical speedometers at VW,
or the VW-specific VW11 or VW12 gears:
VW11 = 11 teeth (for mileage speedometers)
VW12 = 12 teeth (for kilometer speedos)

Installation location:
The gear wheel is located at the end of the odometer roller. It is driven by a worm.

If you need a different gear, use the search function in the store and just type in the gear name: VW11 or VW12 or M11 etc.

Note:
We advise against buying other used speedometers. It is only a matter of time before the cogwheel breaks here too. It is better to save double the cost and effort and replace the gear wheel. This way you will still have the original mileage.

Quality:

The so-called involute tooth geometry is retained, which is the only way to ensure low-friction sliding of the tooth flanks between the gear pairs.
The material we use is the thermoplastic Celron with graphite additives. These ensure low friction and wear-free operation.

If you disassemble the speedometer in advance, please note that the shaft of the speedometer needle is very sensitive. Grip the speedometer needle in the center and turn it counterclockwise. Pull gently. Friction is all that keeps the needle on the shaft.
