Brittle or cracked rubber parts in the area of u200bu200bthe intake manifold or intake ports are often the cause of rough engine running. Especially at idle, the engine often runs poorly if it can draw in unmetered air through aged and hardened rubber parts.
Therefore, sleeves, intermediate flanges, hoses, and intake ports should be replaced at the first signs of aging.
Replacing the rubber parts is standard practice during complete restorations.
When replacing rubber parts, it is always advisable to also replace the corresponding gaskets.
