Description:
The joints on tie rods are subject to wear, which mostly starts with a torn cuff. Because the change of the tie rod always requires a new chassis measurement with setting the pre -track, it is advisable to completely exchange the tie rod depending on the condition. In the 924/944, the tie rods differ in length and whether interior/outer thread on the head. If in doubt, you can also check your thread type and score visually. Another difference: With the 1987 model year, the 944 received the so -called "wide axis". The tie rod heads of the cars with power steering and/or wide axis always have an outer thread and are screwed onto the poles.
