Porsche 912 spare parts

The Porsche 912 is a sports car that was produced as an entry-level model from 1965 to 1969. The model replaced the Porsche 356 after the latter was built in parallel with the Porsche 911 between 1964 and 1965. The Porsche 912 was intended to be a simplified version of the 911, which was reflected in the equipment, among other things. For example, between 1965 and 1967 only three instead of the usual five round instruments were installed. Likewise, buyers of a Porsche 912 initially had to do without a clock in the instrument cluster, but could order it as an option. Thanks to these and many other savings, the Porsche 912 could be offered for around DM 16,000 at market launch, making it more than DM 5650 cheaper than the 911. Furthermore, the 912's fuel consumption was significantly lower than that of the 911.

Engine and prices

In the years 1965 to 1969, the car received some changes. These included an optional five-speed transmission, the Targa version with folding rear window, the extension of the wheelbase and widening of the fender, as well as the modernization of the interior.

In the 1976 model year, the portfolio was expanded to include the Porsche 912 E, which was produced exclusively for the U.S. market. The reasons for this were the discontinuation of production of the VW Porsche 914 and the Porsche 924, which was not yet offered in the U.S. The idea of bringing another model to market had existed for some time, but consideration was to be given to the success of the 911. Therefore, the 912 E was only offered in the USA as a replacement vehicle. The 912 E was based on the 911 G model and had some similarities with it, such as the galvanized bodywork, among other things.
