Description:
Piston rings are mounted on the piston in the corresponding grooves, seal the combustion chamber, and allow heat to be dissipated from the piston to the cylinder wall. The oil scraper ring also ensures the necessary and even lubrication.
Damaged piston rings are noticeable through insufficient compression and the associated loss of power. This wear can be quickly diagnosed with a compression test. Increased oil consumption and unusual engine noises are further symptoms of defective piston rings.
Defective piston rings should be replaced immediately, as broken rings can damage the cylinder bores.
