Description:
Backing plates protect the brakes from ingress of dust, dirt, or fluid. This increases the service life of the individual components of a disc brake. Furthermore, backing plates shield temperature-sensitive chassis components from the heat of the brakes when the vehicle is stationary.
Rust, increased thermal stress, or stone chips often lead to damage to backing plates. To prevent the failure of safety-relevant components of the chassis or braking system, a damaged brake backing plate should be replaced promptly.
