Description:
Drive shafts connect the wheel hub to the transmission.
The grease-lubricated joints are protected from environmental influences by CV joint boots. Over the years, the boots become cracked. The grease can leak out, and dirt can damage the joint. Therefore, the CV joint boots are inspected during the mandatory vehicle inspection and are frequently flagged as defective.
Defective joints are noticeable through cracking or grinding noises when cornering. It is advisable to replace worn drive shafts promptly to avoid consequential damage from the resulting vibrations.
