Over the years, all gas springs lose their operating pressure and therefore their function deteriorates. The higher the manufacturing quality of the piston rod, its coating, and the seal, the longer the dampers will maintain the specified nominal force. It is therefore highly recommended to use proven brand-name products. Generic products often do not have the specified extension force, even when new, and the hood/lid only opens fully with manual assistance.
