The air mass meter differs fundamentally from the standard air flow meter, as it does not use a mechanical flap. Instead, it precisely measures the airflow using modern hot-film technology. This allows for a significantly larger flow cross-section for the intake air, which, in conjunction with the fast, digital evaluation electronics, leads to a noticeable increase in performance. Accurate measured values u200bu200bare transmitted to the engine control unit at all times, thus preventing any additional stress on the engine components.
