Pierburg - Kolbenschmidt
In 1909, the Pierburg brothers founded Pierburg GmbH in Berlin, which has been producing carburetors ever since. In 1986, the Düsseldorf-based Rheinmetall Group acquired the company and began building its automotive technology division. In 1998, Pierburg merged with Kolbenschmidt AG, also acquired by Rheinmetall, to form Kolbenschmidt Pierburg AG. This gives Rheinmetall AG a strong position in all aspects of the automotive industry. Within the Kolbenschmidt Pierburg Group, Pierburg is considered an expert in emissions reduction, air supply, and throttle valves.
