Description:
Handbrake cables are used in the parking brake for mechanical force transmission. Depending on their installation position, the Bowden cables are exposed to external weather conditions and potentially stone chips. This often leads to corrosion of the handbrake cable if the sheathing or a bellows is damaged.
Grinding noises and increased heat generation are also common indicators of a defective handbrake cable.
When replacing handbrake cables, it should be noted that vehicles with a mechanical parking brake have at least two handbrake cables.
