About the Porsche 911 G-model: Technical data and features
The G-series is the second and longest-running generation of the 911 (produced from 1973 to 1989). Although strictly speaking only the 1974 model year bears the internal designation G, "G-model" has long been the nickname for this series. Characteristic differences from the original model (F-model): Body: Fundamentally redesigned to comply with US safety regulations. Bumpers: Characteristic is the new, larger bumper with hydraulic impact absorbers (or impact tubes) and turn signals positioned on the bumpers. Nickname: Due to the pleated plastic transitions, it was also affectionately called the "Bellows Porsche" because of its wrinkled plastic transitions. Interior: The interior remained largely unchanged, apart from more comfortable seats, an electric sunroof, and electric windows. Engines and the Turbo Era The G-model introduced some of the most important models in Porsche's history: 911 Turbo Available from 1975, the 911 Turbo (930) with its 3-liter turbocharged engine was the fastest German production car of its time (250 km/h). Later, the 3.3-liter engine achieved speeds of up to 260 km/h. Body styles: Due to US legislation, the 911 was initially only available as a Targa and Coupé. Later, the popular 911 SC Cabriolet and the high-performance Carrera models followed. The G-series ended with its successors, the Porsche 964 and the Porsche 993. As the price of the 911 G continues to rise, it is a sought-after collector's item. We offer the right spare parts for the maintenance and professional restoration of your G-model.
