Insulation damage, which in the worst case can lead to a vehicle fire, or broken wires that cause functional problems, are the result. In addition, the sheathing of old wiring harnesses usually becomes so stiff and hard, which negatively affects re-routing after painting or a complete restoration and can potentially lead to wire damage.
