Description:
The timing chain with sprockets, tensioning rails and chain tensioners forms the most important connection between shafts in the engine. It ensures safe control of the valves. If one of the components fails, there is a risk of major engine damage. Mechanical/hydraulic chain tensioners should be serviced regularly to ensure that the timing chain is always correctly tensioned. Components such as a tension bar, a sprocket or the chain should be replaced at the first sign of wear. This is also noticeable through rattling engine noises.
