Brittle or cracked rubber parts are often the cause of rough engine running. Especially at idle, the engine often doesn't run smoothly because it can draw in unmetered air through aged and hardened rubber parts.
Therefore, we recommend replacing sleeves, intermediate flanges, hoses, and intake manifolds at the first signs of aging. After 30 years, rubber parts should always be replaced as a precaution.
