20x21 speedometer gear for instrument cluster odometer repair

Description:
Double gear wheel for digital VDO speedometers from various vehicle manufacturers

The gear offered is one of 6 different double gears for digital VDO speedometers.
These differ in the number of teeth of the smaller gear. The number of teeth of the larger gear is always 20.

The original beige-brown gear wheels crumble over the years and must be replaced.

Please count the teeth of the smaller gearwheel after removal and order the corresponding gearwheel in the store. We have only posted separate offers for known assignments (vehicle model to gear wheel variant).

The following variants of the double gearwheel exist:
20x21
20x22
20x23
20x29
20x30
20x32
You will find the designation in the respective offer title.

Advantages:
Our gears are injection-molded from high-quality thermoplastic material. This enables very good dimensional accuracy and an involute shape of the teeth, which run particularly gently on the partner gear.
We have all gears for VDO and other speedometers in our range and can therefore also supply additional gears or exchange incorrectly ordered gears if required.

Notes:
Digital = speedometer signal arrives electronically (the instrument cluster)
Mechanical = speedometer signal arrives via an analog speedometer cable

Buying a used speedometer may save on repairs, but there is a risk that the gearwheel will break soon. In particular, storage times and cold temperatures cause additional damage to the gears.
If you have disassembled the speedometer, we also recommend replacing the bulbs. These lose performance noticeably over the years. They are available from every car dealership and accessories store.

If you disassemble the speedometer beforehand, please note that the shaft of the speedometer needle is very sensitive. Grip the speedometer needle in the middle and turn it anticlockwise. Pull gently. Friction is all that keeps the needle on the shaft.
