The gear offered is one of 6 different double gears for digital VDO speedometers. These differ in the number of teeth on the smaller gear. The number of teeth on the larger gear is basically 20.
The original beige-brown gears crumble over the years and need to be replaced.
After removal, please count the teeth of the smaller gear and order the corresponding gear in the shop. We have only provided separate offers for clearly known assignments (vehicle model to gear variant).

This enables very good dimensional accuracy and an involute shape of the teeth, which run particularly gently on the partner gear. Buying a used speedometer may save you having to repair it, but it carries the risk that the gear will break in the near future. Storage times and cold temperatures in particular cause additional damage to the gears. If you have dismantled the speedometer, we also recommend replacing the light bulbs. These noticeably lose performance over the years. They are available at every car dealership and accessories store.
If you disassemble the speedometer in advance, please note that the shaft of the speedometer needle is very sensitive. Grab the speedometer needle in the middle and turn it counterclockwise. Pull lightly. Friction is everything that keeps the needle on the shaft.
