Speedometer gear for PORSCHE 911 G SC 944 928 repair 20x21

excellent workmanship quality

Description:
If the odometer/trip meter has failed on your vehicle, this gear is almost always the cause. The original beige-brown gears crumble over the years due to a material defect and have to be replaced.

Variants:
Most 944-II have this 20x21 installed! However, the 20x22 (e.g. 944 S2) or the 20x30 can also be installed. You can find both in the shop.
We can say with great certainty, but not with 100% certainty, which model has which gear size. Too many influencing factors come into play here (engine type/gearbox type/gear ratio/differential type/year of manufacture/model).
However, the following data reliably helps to determine the right gear:
20x21 (17.60mm/9.00mm) number of teeth opposite partner gear: 49 teeth 911/928 mph/944
20x22 (17.60mm/9.40mm) Number of teeth opposite partner gear: 48 teeth 911/944 mph
20x23 (17.60mm/9.65mm) Number of teeth opposite partner gear: 47 teeth 944(S2)/911(G)
20x29 (17.60mm/12.05mm) Number of teeth opposite partner gear: 41 teeth some 928 km/h
20x30 (17.60mm/12.55mm) number of teeth opposite partner gear: 40 teeth 911/944
20x32 (17.60mm/13.40mm) number of teeth opposite partner gear: 38 teeth 928 km/h

Simply count the teeth of the gear that this gear meshes with and/or use the measurements to help you.

Service:
We have over 100 gear variants in our range and can supply the right gears if required!

+ all alternative sizes always in stock
+ fast exchange service in the event of a size discrepancy

For the repair, we will send you illustrated repair instructions (German/English) by email. You can also find suitable repair videos on YouTube.

Advantages:
Buying a used speedometer saves you from having to repair it initially, but carries the risk that the gear will break in the near future. Storage times and cold temperatures in particular cause additional damage to the gears. Due to incorrect material choice by VDO, all original gears of this type will break over time!
If you have dismantled the speedometer, we also recommend replacing the light bulbs. These noticeably lose performance over the years.

Quality:
Our gears are elaborately and faithfully manufactured using injection molding and are not self-made 3D printed products. We work with a manufacturer that specializes in the production of plastic gears and is the global market leader with its repair solutions.
The so-called involute tooth geometry is retained; this is the only way to ensure low-friction sliding of the tooth flanks between the gear pairs.
The material we use is the thermoplastic Celron with graphite additives. These ensure low friction and wear-free operation.

If you disassemble the speedometer in advance, please note that the shaft of the speedometer needle is very sensitive. Grip the center of the speedometer needle and turn it counterclockwise. Pull lightly. Friction is everything that keeps the needle on the shaft.
