Technical data & history of the Porsche 964

The Porsche 964 was developed after 15 years of production of the G-model to meet the increased customer demands for comfort and driving safety . Although 85% of the parts were new, the sales designation Porsche 911 was retained.

Technical Innovations of the 964

  • Chassis: Newly developed chassis, based on light alloys, combined with power steering and an anti-lock braking system (ABS).
  • Engine: The air-cooled 3.6-litersix-cylinder boxer engine was equipped with dual ignition, knock control, and a regulated three-way catalytic converter, which significantly reduced fuel consumption.
  • Drivetrain: Initially available only as the Carrera 4 with innovative all-wheel drive , later also as the Carrera 2 with rear-wheel drive.

Design and Body Styles

The 964 represented the most significant redesign of the 911's body style since the G-model:

  • The newer shape was aerodynamically improved and achieved an outstanding drag coefficient of just 0.32.
  • Particularly striking was the automatically extending rear spoiler, which provided improved aerodynamics and engine cooling from 80 km/h.

The 964 was offered in the popular Coupé, Cabriolet and Targa versions. The interior was modernized with a new center console and backlit instruments. With us you'll find all the necessary spare parts to optimally maintain this modern classic and preserve its increasing value.
