Technical data & history of the Porsche Panamera 970

The Porsche Panamera was presented at Auto Shanghai in 2009 and was Porsche's answer to the desire for a fully-fledged four-seater with the performance of a sports car. While the design was controversial, the driving dynamics were convincing.

Engine and Chassis Technology

  • Engines: The first models featured a 4.8-literV8 engine (naturally aspirated or turbocharged). The Panamera S and 4S started with 400 hp, while the Turbo produced 500 hp.
  • Hybrid: The Panamera S E-Hybrid version later introduced plug-in capability , which enabled all-electric driving at speeds up to 135 km/h. Innovations: The Panamera introduced technical solutions such as the optional dual-clutch transmission (PDK) and the advanced Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). The flagship model of the luxury class, the Panamera 970 was unsurpassed in its time on tight corners. The combination of its all-aluminum body and sports car technology made it an exceptional vehicle.
