Worn brake pads often lead to a reduction in braking performance and a significantly longer braking distance. It is therefore advisable to replace brake pads that have a remaining lining of less than 2mm on an axle-by-axle basis. In addition, for brake systems with warning contacts, this should also be replaced as soon as it has been triggered.

Brake pad guide plates ensure defined positioning and noise isolation of the brake pads. The most common cause of errors in guide plates is contamination and corrosion. Therefore, the guide plates should be inspected every time the brake pads are changed. A damaged guide plate causes the brake pads to bind, which increases wear on the brake pads.
