Tie rod for PORSCHE 928 4.5 928S up to -'86 L=R LC
Good and affordable - Also available as a premium version
Description:
The joints on track rods are subject to wear, which usually starts with a torn boot. Once the grease has been washed out of the axial joint or tie rod end, the ball joint will fail within a few thousand kilometers. The defective rubber sleeves or rod ends will be rejected by the TÜV at the latest. Depending on the Porsche model, the track rods can consist of two or three main components. These include the axial joint as the inner ball joint in front of the steering gear and the so-called tie rod end at the outer end of the tie rod. Sometimes the axial joint and tie rod end are also directly connected, as in the 924/944 and 968. Because replacing the tie rod always requires a new wheel alignment with toe-in adjustment, it is also advisable to replace the tie rod completely, depending on its condition. On the 924/944, the track rods differ in length AND whether they have internal/external threads on the head. If in doubt, you can also check your thread type and visually compare it. Another difference: With the 1987 model year, the 944 received the so-called "wide axle". The tie rod ends of cars with power steering and/or a wide axle always have an external thread and are screwed onto the rods.
The manufacturer specification "unbranded" means that the item was produced by a less well-known manufacturer from Germany or abroad. Such products are often the only alternative available on the market, meaning that we cannot fall back on a more established supplier. Nevertheless, this article can be used as a low-cost solution. We offer some items both as an unbranded low-budget variant and as a high-quality premium variant.
