Description:
This gear is a common weak point on mechanical speedometers, but replacing it is relatively simple. Odometers that no longer work can be repaired quickly and true to the original.

Gear choice:
Either the standard gears M11 to M25 can be installed in the mechanical speedometers at VW,
or the VW-specific VW11 or VW12 gears:
VW11 = 11 teeth (for mileage speedometers)
VW12 = 12 teeth (for odometers)

Installation location:
The gear is located at the end of the odometer roller. It is powered by a snail.

If you need a different gear, use the search function in the shop and just type in the gear name: VW11 or VW12 or M11 etc.

A notice:
We advise against purchasing other used speedometers. It's only a matter of time before the gear breaks here too. Better save double costs and efforts and replace the gear. So you still have the original kilometers/mileage.

If you disassemble the speedometer in advance, please note that the shaft of the speedometer needle is very sensitive. Grab the center of the speedometer needle and turn it counterclockwise. Pull lightly. Friction is everything that keeps the needle on the shaft.
