Master brake cylinder for PORSCHE 996 Carrera Boxster 986 with PSM ATE
Proven quality from ATE
Description: Basically, 2 different master brake cylinders were installed in the Porsche 996 and 986. One fits both all 996 up to model year 1999 and from model year 2000 for 996 without PSM (Porsche Stability Management) as well as for all Boxsters up to model year 2000 and from model year 2001 for all Boxster 986 without PSM. The other brake cylinder variant fits all Porsche 996 from model year 2000 with PSM and all Boxster 986 from model year 2001 with PSM.
The master brake cylinder is the central starting point of a hydraulic service brake as it generates the necessary brake pressure. A defective master brake cylinder should therefore be replaced immediately. A defective master brake cylinder leads to a significant loss of braking power, as usually only two wheels are braked instead of four. If you suspect a defective master brake cylinder, you should under no circumstances continue driving, but replace the cylinder immediately.
