Porsche 911 F spare parts

Technical data

The Porsche 911, also known as the "Neunelfer" or "Elfer" for short, is considered the most popular model of the Stuttgart-based vehicle manufacturer. The original model of the 911 was presented for the first time in 1963 at the IAA in Frankfurt am Main and was considered a major development advance. Today, the 911 is seen as the epitome of the Porsche brand. Initially, the model was introduced under the designation Porsche 901, but subsequently had to be renamed to the Porsche 911 we know today. The reason for this was that three-digit numbers with a zero in the middle was protected as a type designation for Peugeot models.

Responsible for the design of the model was Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, who, in addition to the functionality of the trunk, also considered the high recognition value of the model in the form of round headlights as decisive. In addition, there was a strong resemblance to the previous model, the Porsche 356.

Engine and prices

The model was initially available only as a coupe and only later, from 1967, as a Targa. The chassis in particular, with damper legs and wishbones at the front and a rear semi-trailing arm suspension, was considered the most significant innovation, along with the six-cylinder engine. The air-cooled boxer engine in the rear of the first model from 1963 initially had an output of 130 hp and was particularly notable for its smooth running. After just under ten years, the S variant of the 911 could already boast an output of 190 hp. One of the peculiarities of all Porsche 911s is the position of the ignition lock, which is located on the left side of the steering wheel. This is a development from racing, which allows the driver to start the engine as soon as he gets in the car.

In 1968, the base 911 model with a 130-horsepower engine was given the designation 911 L, where L stands for "luxury." The following models were given the designation 911 T (Touring), 911 E and 911 S. These models all differed in equipment in addition to the engine.

At the Mondial de l'Automobile in Paris in 1972, the Porsche Carrera RS 2.7, limited to 500 units, was presented as a special sports version, with 210 hp, of the 911.

The original model of the Porsche 911 is nowadays considered a sought-after collector's item
