Description:
If the odometer or hour meter counter on your vehicle has failed, this drive gear in the instrument is usually the cause. Unsuitable materials cause the original gears to fall apart or tear radially. With the help of this offer, every hobby mechanic can easily repair their instrument themselves and save themselves costly contract repairs, waiting times and the cost of sending the entire instrument back and forth.
The gear wheel is for Smith's odometer and has 20 teeth.

Gear sets:
Some counter drives contain more than one susceptible gear. In this case, we strongly recommend that you change all critical pinions to avoid duplicate assembly work: The neighboring gear often fails directly after the first gear has been replaced. Simply look for the right set in our store and enter your vehicle as the search term + "gear" (e.g. "Mercedes SL gear").

Note:
The number of teeth on the instrument drives also varies within a model depending on the engine and gearbox type as well as the differential ratio and country code. Thanks to our many years of experience, we can usually send you the correct tooth configuration directly with the above information.
You can also provide us with vehicle information in the comments field when purchasing or, ideally, disassemble your instrument in advance and count the number of teeth.

Quality:
Our gears are manufactured with great care and true to the original using the injection molding process and are not 3D-printed in-house parts. We work with a manufacturer that specializes in the production of plastic gears and is the global market leader with its repair solutions.
The so-called involute tooth geometry is retained, which is the only way to ensure low-friction sliding of the tooth flanks between the gear pairs.
The material we use is the thermoplastic Celron with graphite additives. These ensure low friction and wear-free operation.

If you disassemble the speedometer in advance, please note that the shaft of the speedometer needle is very sensitive. Grip the speedometer needle in the center and turn it counterclockwise. Pull gently. Friction is all that keeps the needle on the shaft.
