Description:
This gear is a common weak point on mechanical speedometers, but replacing it is relatively simple. Odometers that no longer work can be repaired quickly and true to the original.

Gear choice:
Either the M11 to M25 gears or the VW-specific VW11 or VW12 gears can be installed in the mechanical speedometers at VW:
VW11 = 11 teeth (for mileage speedometers)
VW12 = 12 teeth (for odometers)

Installation location:
The gear is located at the end of the odometer roller. It is powered by a snail.

Production:
The gear, with excellent workmanship quality, is made of tough-elastic thermoplastic and, thanks to complex injection molding technology, is dimensionally accurate and of high quality. Printed gears, on the other hand, often have internal stresses and thermal distortion, a very rough surface and are less strong.

A notice:
We advise against buying other used speedometers, it is only a matter of time before the gear breaks here too. Better save double costs and efforts and replace the gear. So you still have the original kilometers/mileage.

If you disassemble the speedometer in advance, please note that the shaft of the speedometer needle is very sensitive. Grip the center of the speedometer needle and turn it counterclockwise. Pull lightly. Friction is everything that keeps the needle on the shaft.
