Instrument cluster gear for MASERATI Quattroporte 3 III '79-'90 speedometer
excellent workmanship quality
Description: If the odometer/trip meter has failed on your vehicle, the gear shown is usually the cause. The original beige-brown gears crumble over the years due to a material defect and have to be replaced.
A notice: Unfortunately, the association between engine type/gearbox type/year of manufacture/model/country type and gear type is so complex that only counting the teeth can provide 100% certainty. We strongly recommend disassembling the speedometer before purchasing and letting us know the number of teeth as a comment when purchasing. This is how you prevent an exchange. Without the note, you will receive the most commonly installed gear for this type of vehicle.
Service: We have over 100 gear variants in our range and can supply the right gears if required!
+ all alternative sizes always in stock + fast exchange service in the event of a size discrepancy
For the repair, we will send you illustrated repair instructions (German/English) by email.
Advantages: Buying a used speedometer saves you from having to repair it initially, but carries the risk that the gear will break in the near future. Storage times and cold temperatures in particular cause additional damage to the gears. Due to incorrect material choice by VDO, all original gears of this type will break over time! If you have dismantled the speedometer, we also recommend replacing the light bulbs. These noticeably lose performance over the years.
Quality: Our gears are elaborately and faithfully manufactured using injection molding and are not self-made 3D printed products. We work with a manufacturer that specializes in the production of plastic gears and is the global market leader with its repair solutions. The so-called involute tooth geometry is retained; this is the only way to ensure low-friction sliding of the tooth flanks between the pairs of gears. The material we use is the thermoplastic Celron with graphite additives. These ensure low friction and wear-free operation.
If you disassemble the speedometer in advance, please note that the shaft of the speedometer needle is very sensitive. Grab the speedometer needle in the middle and turn it counterclockwise. Pull lightly. Friction is everything that keeps the needle on the shaft.
