Description:
If the kilometer counter/kilometer meter has failed on your vehicle, then this gear is almost always the cause. The original beige-brown gears crumble after the years due to a material defect and have to be exchanged.
Variants:
Most 911 G models (and some 944) installed this 20x30! However, the 20x21 or 20x22 can also be installed in the 944. You can find this in the shop via the search for e.g. "20x21".
We can say with great certainty, but not 100%security which model has installed which gear size. There are too many influencing factors (engine type/gearbox type/translation/differential type/year of construction/model).
However, the following data reliably help determining the correct gear:
20x21 (17.60mm/9.00mm) Number of teeth opposite the partner tooth wheel: 49 teeth 911/928 MPH/944
20x22 (17.60mm/9.40mm) Number of teeth opposite the partner tooth wheel: 48 teeth 911/944 MPH
20x23 (17.60mm/9.65mm) Number of teeth opposite the partner tooth wheel: 47 teeth 944 (S2)/911 (G)
20x29 (17.60mm/12.05mm) Number of teeth opposite the partner tooth wheel: 41 teeth a few 928 km/h
20x30 (17.60mm/12.55mm) Number of teeth opposite partner gear: 40 teeth 911/944
20x32 (17.60mm/13.40mm) Number of teeth opposite the partner tooth wheel: 38 teeth 928 km/h
Simply count the teeth of the gear into which this gear intervenes and/or/or use the dimensions.
Service:
We have over 100 gear variants in our range and can deliver the right gears if necessary!
+ all alternative sizes constantly stored
+ Fast exchange service for size deviation
For the repair, we will send you an illustrated repair instruction (German/English) by email. She also finds suitable repair videos on YouTube.
Advantages:
The purchase of a used speedometer initially saves the repair, but the risk that the gear broke up promptly here too. In particular, storage times and cold temperatures damage the gears. Due to a false choice of material from VDO, all original gears of this type will break over time!
If you have disassembled the speedometer, the exchange of the light bulbs is also recommended. Over the years, these noticeably lose performance.
Quality:
Our gears are complex and faithful in the injection molding process and no 3D printing own buildings. We work with a manufacturer who specializes in the production of plastic tooth wheels and is the market leader worldwide with its repair solutions.
The so-called evolvent tooth geometry is maintained, only in this way is a non-frictional sliding of the tooth flanks between the gear pairs.
As a material, we use the thermoplastic plastic Celron with graphite additives. These ensure low friction and the wear -free operation.
If you disassemble the speedometer in advance, please note that the shaft of the speedometer needle is very sensitive. Grab the speedometer needle in the middle and turn clockwise. Pull lightly. Friction is everything the needle keeps on the wave.
