The master brake cylinder is the central starting point of a hydraulic service brake, as it generates the necessary brake pressure. A defective brake master cylinder should therefore be replaced immediately. A defective brake master cylinder leads to a significant loss of braking power, as usually only two wheels are braked instead of four. If you suspect a defective brake master cylinder, you should not continue driving under any circumstances, but replace the cylinder immediately.
