Description: Components in the valve train are subject to high loads at changing temperatures. Controlled by the camshaft, actuation takes place via the rocker arms on the valves. Clacking/knocking noises, especially when the engine is cold, are signs of worn components in the valve control or incorrectly adjusted valve clearance. During an engine overhaul or maintenance, worn or damaged components must be replaced immediately to avoid consequential damage.
