Description: Wheel bearings are the central roller bearings on vehicles that guide the wheel over the wheel hub in the wheel carrier. In old vehicles these are often pairs of bearings made up of, for example, deep groove ball bearings and needle bearings. Newer models usually have double row angular contact ball bearings. In the past, open roller bearings with separate shaft seals were also used. Thanks to “functional integration”, these have now been replaced by bearings lubricated for life. If a wheel bearing is defective, this is usually noticeable through "thumping" noises when cornering. The vigorous shaking of the wheel can also provide information about the condition of the wheel bearings. At Porsche, even within a series, the wheel bearings differ in their design depending on the model year. With us you will find a small selection of ball bearings for the wheel suspension for the front or rear axle of your Porsche.
The FAG company was founded in Schweinfurt in 1883 and has been manufacturing rolling bearings for vehicles ever since, initially for bicycles. In 2001, FAG was bought by the Schaeffler Group. One of the best-known areas of application for FAG bearings, apart from automobiles, are the spherical roller bearings in the hub of the "London Eye" Ferris wheel.
