Double gear for digital VDO speedometers from a wide range of vehicle manufacturers

The gear on offer is one of six different double gears for digital VDO speedometers.
These differ in the number of teeth on the smaller gear. The larger gear always has 20 teeth.

The original beige-brown gears crumble over the years and must be replaced.

Please count the teeth on the smaller gear after removal and order the corresponding gear from our shop. We only offer separate offers for assignments (vehicle model to gear variant) that are known without doubt.

Advantages:
Our gears are injection-molded from high-quality thermoplastic. This enables very good dimensional accuracy and an involute shape of the teeth, which wear particularly gently on the partner gear.
We stock all gears for VDO and other speedometers and can therefore supply additional gears or exchange incorrectly ordered gears if necessary.

Notes:
Digital = speedometer signal is received electronically (the instrument cluster)
Mechanical = speedometer signal is received analogically via a speedometer cable

Buying a used speedometer may save you the hassle of repairs, but carries the risk that the gear will break quickly. Storage times and cold temperatures in particular cause additional damage to the gears.
If you have disassembled the speedometer, it is also advisable to replace the light bulbs. These lose noticeable performance over the years. They are available at any car dealership and aftermarket store.

If you disassemble the speedometer beforehand, please note that the speedometer needle shaft is very sensitive. Grab the speedometer needle in the middle and turn it counterclockwise. Pull gently. Friction is all that keeps the needle on the shaft.
